Roberto Mancini quickly praised the Scudetto race this season, Milan needs just one point on the final day at Sassuolo to defend the title ahead of Inter, who have a poor record.

However, he also reiterated his desire to see younger players given more opportunities.

“First of all we have to say it was a good tournament, where many fought for the Scudetto until recently,” he added.

“I don’t know who will win, I think Milan are in a very good position. But games have to be played, then whoever wins deserves it, be it Inter or Milan. They both had a great competition anyway.

“In fact, I was hoping that a lot of players would be able to get in, but in recent years the situation has not changed: there are a lot of good young people who are not getting the chance.”

Regarding Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, Roberto Mancini is looking for a response from his team, which will start its UEFA Nations League campaign at home against Germany on June 4.

“We should never have gone out, but we should accept defeat and start over,” he continued.

“We know we don’t have much choice, but we have to come up with something similar to what happened four years ago.”
