Pep Guardiola: Everyone in England supports Liverpool… the media and everyone

Liverpool vs Benfica

Pep Guardiola says the English community wants Liverpool to win the Premier League defeat to Manchester City.

Catalan coach Manchester City have removed three points from Liverpool in the Premier League with a win over Newcastle United on Sunday, and put more pressure on the Reds on a full-time basis.

“Everyone in the country supports Liverpool … the media and everyone,” Guardiola told IN Sports.

“Yes, because Liverpool have an amazing history in the European competition.

“Not in the Premier League, because they’ve won one in 30 years, but it’s not a problem at all.”

The Manchester City coach added that this does not bother him at all.

“But I don’t care,” he said.

“They have more fans around the world and in England they support Liverpool more than we do.”

Manchester City’s target

Guardiola went on to say what his City team needed to win the Premier League.

“We need to score nine or maybe six points right now, depending on what happens in the next two games in terms of goal difference, but now Wednesday is a real final game for us [not at Wolverhampton Wanderers],” he said.
We will try to win there.

“Our destiny is in our hands and this is important. We have to look at it. With one or three points, nothing has changed. We have to do it.”
