Mohamed Salah wants revenge when he faces Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final at the end of May, four years after the match at Kyiv where he suffered a shoulder injury.

The Liverpool striker feels confident and says he is the best player in the world in his position.

“I don’t listen to everything that is said, but I always try to improve my game, try new things, and make a difference,” Salah said in an interview with BeIN Sports.

“When you compare me to players who play in one place, and I don’t just mean my team, but overall, I’m better and the numbers prove it.

“But, I have to stay focused and keep working hard.”

Salah’s memories of the 2018 Champions League final

The striker continued to focus on the 2018 final against Real Madrid, a Spanish team that won 3-1.

“I remember the last UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid as if it were yesterday,” he said.

“When I left the stadium last year it was painful for me but I had to accept it and move on and that is why we won the Champions League a year later.

“I feel very happy to face them again in the final, we want to do well in this.

“All my life I have been thinking this way and trying to stay on the right track. In the past, there were those who told me I could not achieve anything after leaving Chelsea but I remained optimistic.”

“I hope we can reach four points. I’m doing my best to win the Premier League and the Champions League, but the most important thing is the team.”

Liverpool have already won the League Cup and advanced to the FA Cup final, while trailing Manchester City by three.
