As Barcelona’s contract negotiations with Spanish midfielder Gavi are strained, they face serious risks from other clubs who could come in to gain a youthful feeling in the summer transfer window.
The 17-year-old Spanish midfielder’s current contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2023 and despite negotiations, a deal is yet to be reached.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed his displeasure with Gavi’s agent, Ivan de la Pena for delaying the contract, and added that the club will not improve the current proposal tabled in the table.
Joan Laporta’s comments did not bode well for the Spanish camp, which added to the tensions. And now, SPORT reports that Liverpool are planning to take advantage of the situation by taking the initiative to sign Gavi.
Gavi’s current contract with the Catalans comes with a release clause worth 50 million euros. And the finalists of the UEFA Champions League are now thinking of starting the league as they wish to get him in the summer.
The report states that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp loves Gavi and has been following his development for a long time. Merseysider believes he could be a good part of the list, so they are ready to shell out 50 million euros even though he is only 17 years old.
However, what works for Barcelona is that the Spaniard is not considering getting out of this point. The La Masia graduate is based in Catalonia and wants to stay at the club.
So, although Liverpool will be able to offer him a lucrative contract, Gavi would like to stay at Camp Nou. However, it is important for Barcelona to resolve any disagreements with the player’s camp and get him to sign on the dotted line in advance.
