Kylian Mbappe is still planning to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2021/22 season, according to former French international Jerome Rothen.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Mbappe since making a major bid for PSG last summer and the young striker is expected to move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu this summer, where he is a free agent.

Although Le Parisien announced this week that they would sign a two-year contract with the French club, this has been denied by his mother Fayza Lamary, who spoke to MARCA as calling the report “completely false”.

Now, Jerome Rothen has spoken out about the situation and also emphasized the statement of the actress’s mother.

Mbappe wants a top sports project
Rothen, now a RMC Sport reporter, explained that Mbappe wants to be part of a solid sports project.

“Mbappe is still open to expansion, so PSG could offer him something big, but money is not his priority, a sports project,” Rothen said.

“He wants the answers he has been waiting for but does not have them.

“His strategy, if nothing changes for PSG, is to leave. I hope the PSG leaders know that.

“Certainly, and the fans should know this, that PSG means a lot to him and he has a strong connection with the club.”
If Mbappe leaves the French club, it will not be due to a high lead check in Real Madrid. In fact, he may be leaving money on a table to take a trip.

In his opinion, he wants to join the winning team and Real Madrid’s run to the Champions League could reassure him that Los Blancos has everything he needs and more.
