Manchester City have secured a deal to sign Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for an estimated £ 55m.

The 21-year-old was one of the most sought-after talents in world football, with some of the top clubs voicing interest in signing Haaland this summer due to his release clause, which was believed to be over £ 60m but has now been revealed to below.

Finally, there was a dispute between City and Real Madrid, where they once secured a deal on the line earlier this week, after which Haaland was released by Dortmund to make amends.

Confirmation of the deal is in place, with City announcing that Haaland has signed at the Etihad Stadium.

A brief statement reads: “Manchester City can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to transfer striker Erling Haaland to the Club on July 1, 2022.

“The transfer is still subject to the club’s finalization of terms with the player.”

Haaland has agreed on a five-year contract for a lower salary than the highest-paid Kevin De Bruyne, but his contract includes a host of bonuses that could land him in a Belgian salary.

Haaland will meet Pep Guardiola’s side this summer with January signing Julian Alvarez, both of whom will strengthen the forward line that is already one of the strongest in the Premier League.
