Julian Nagelsmann says Bayern Munich have had encouraging contract negotiations with agent Robert Lewandowski amid reported interest from Barcelona.
Lewandowski has a contract with the Bundesliga champions until June 2023 and Barca have been linked with a move for the striker.
Bayern bosses have met with Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski’s agent, as the Bavarian giants try to keep the 33-year-old.
Nagelsmann hopes an agreement can be reached. The Bayern head coach said: “I asked if it was a good conversation. And it seems. But nothing has been reported, by any means.
“My position has not changed, we want to keep it that way and extend his contract.”
Nagelsmann is determined to wait for Lewandowski to make a decision on his future.
He said: “You know Pini likes to negotiate so you need a little patience. But that’s one of my biggest qualities.”
Lewandowski last week became the first player to score at least 34 goals in the Bundesliga for three consecutive seasons.
The Poland captain has scored an impressive 49 goals in all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign.
