Arsenal set sights on Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling

Sterling

Arsenal are looking to try to sign Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling this summer, as he enters the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

After a good second half of the season, the north London club are looking at options to improve their attacking quality and depth ahead of next season, when they will be playing in the UEFA Champions League.

According to the Telegraph, Mikel Arteta’s latest new contract means plans could be made for Arsenal through the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta worked with Raheem Sterling whilst the Spaniard was on Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff, and the pair already have a positive relationship to tap into.

Arsenal saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave the club in January, and striker Alexandre Lacazette is expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Should Sterling take this step, he could be a key player in the Gunners’ squad. The England international has set his sights on the future.

Sterling recently scored two goals as City beat Newcastle United 5-0.

Another Manchester City player who has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks is Gabriel Jesus, with reports in England suggesting an agreement has been reached between the player and the Gunners.

However, Arsenal have yet to contact City about a chance to sign Jesus or Sterling.
