Barcelona defender Dani Alves wants his former team-mate, Lionel Messi, to return to the Camp Nou for a ‘final dance’ together as he believes there is no better place for him to work.
Lionel Messi has failed to regain the form that has made him one of the greatest players in the history of the sport since joining Paris Saint-Germain last summer, scoring eight goals in all competitions so far this season.
Alves, who played for Messi at Barcelona between 2008 and 2016, believes it would be good for the Argentine skipper to complete his career in Spain.
“I do not know what you think or what you want to do. He might come back a little year with me so we can have a ‘final dance’. Why not? There is no better place than this. We will not be better than Barça. He went and tried the experience. It’s time to go home if he wants to, ”Alves said in an interview with Diario Sport.
There have been reports that Messi is unhappy with PSG’s life and that the 34-year-old will be looking to return to Barcelona soon – although that looks unlikely as the Catalan giants still have financial problems and are less likely to be able to afford his big salary.
Messi left Barcelona last summer after playing 778 games for the club, scoring 672 goals and leading to 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League titles among a host of honors.
