EURO 2020

The United Kingdom and Ireland will host Euro 2028 after no rival request has been made before this week’s deadline.

The Times reported that without a last-minute surprise, Uefa will take the official decision to nominate Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland as hostages on April 7 and the official application process will be finalized on Wednesday. -23 March.

Turkey has been forcing UEFA to consider a national request between 2028 and 2032 but that does not seem to be the case.

Russia also thought it would compete in the tournament for six years but that was withdrawn following the Ukrainian invasion.

Uefa is expected to expand European competitions to 32 teams by 2028 although under the new rules no one in five countries will host the team that will automatically enter.
