Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, which led to their elimination from the UEFA Champions League, has created a lot of problems for Parc des Princes.
Neymar and Lionel Messi were both whistled and scolded as they returned home over the weekend, while Kylian Mbappe was applauded for his efforts.
But L’Equipe reported that “Mbappe was embarrassed by the whistles” that his colleagues had suffered, despite fans showing their appreciation for him.
The French newspaper believes fans’ applause for Mbappe was an attempt to persuade him to stay at the club beyond the summer, and his contract expires on June 30.
They also wrote that “Mbappe is not deceived, and he knows that fans can change their minds, turn you into a villain one day and become a hero next to you, depending on the playing field”.
L’Equipe insists that the applause of the fans will not change Mbappe’s thinking and will not play a role in his final decision this coming summer.
