UFC star Conor McGregor has expressed an interest in signing Chelsea amid reports that Roman Abramovich wants to sell the club to the Premier League.
Abramovich bought European champions in 2003 but is said to be looking for a new owner.
The 55-year-old has handed over the “management and care” of the London club to its senior management following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Swiss millionaire Hansjorg Wyss says he was among those offered to Chelsea. McGregor on Wednesday suggested he would like to apply for £ 3billion.
An Irishman wrote on Twitter: “I would like to check out this @ChelseaFC.” McGregor has previously announced on social media that he will do “great things” with Manchester United when he buys a club.
Wyss told the Swiss newspaper Blick that he would only agree to buy if he could combine a combination of investors.
Like all other oligarchs, he is terrified, ”said the 86-year-old man. “Abramovich is trying to sell all his beautiful houses in England. He also wants to get rid of Chelsea as soon as possible. I and three other people received a request on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.
“I have to wait four to five days now. Abramovich is currently asking a lot. You know, Chelsea owe him £ 2billion.
“But Chelsea have no money. It means those who buy Chelsea should compensate Abramovich [on debt].
“As of today, we do not know the exact amount of sales.
“But what I can say already, I’m not doing something like this on my own. If I buy Chelsea, then I can [buy] a consortium that includes six to seven investors.”
