Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has suggested that legendary teammate Lionel Messi is best in a central role after the seven-time Ballon d’Or made his goalscoring return to the starting lineup in that position in Ligue 1 at the weekend.

Messi has played mixed roles since arriving at the Paris earthquake in August, often playing the right-wing. He also worked as a ‘number 10’ behind the top striker and as a key player, as happened on Sunday when PSG knocked down champion Lille.

Messi, who was forced into solitary confinement in Argentina in January after being tested for Covid-19 while at home during the winter break, scored his second Ligue 1 goal in 13 games in a 5-1 victory, and also signed an assistant.

Mbappe also scored, playing left-back in Neymar’s absence.

“Better when Leo is in the middle? Yes, but I am not a coach, ”the Frenchman told Amazon Prime after the game.

“Leo is a player who has to be in football, to hear the game and the game you have to be involved in. I think it is a good position for him, he is comfortable, he can walk and walk.

“Me, I can play anywhere. I started in the middle, to the right now to the left but I still have some freedom in my walk. ”

With just seven goals in all competitions this season and the season so far hampered by tough complaints, Messi is likely to end up with less than 20 goals. To put that in perspective, he has yet to score less than 30 goals. a given season from 2007/08 when he was 20 years old.
