L’Équipe reports that Kylian Mbappé could open the door for a revival against Paris Saint-Germain, with the goal of becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer by surpassing Edinson Cavani’s 200 goals.
World Cup winner Zlatan Ibrahimović scored 156 goals for Les Parisiens in two games against Saint-Étienne on Saturday.
The striker then commented on the post-match success, saying “Edi is still [at the front], we’ll see how things go. Certainly being the PSG’s top scorer is not something to be ridiculed ”.
With Mbappé still making a strong decision on his future, especially between the UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid, it seems that the striker is leaving the door open to extend his contract. This is especially significant given that the 23-year-old once said he would like to “leave a mark on people’s minds, whether mathematically or physically.”
Still, it is possible that he will leave at the end of the season, mainly due to his feeling that he was close to the block in Ligue 1 and would like to start a new chapter.
Another important factor that can contribute to his decision is the love shown by Parc des Princes to him a few weeks ago. The striker, who is not as popular as the likes of Verratti and Marquinhos, has always felt that his strikes are not appreciated.
However, his relationship with fans seems to have changed since the start of the season after his departure from Real Madrid. This is evident in the applause of the Parc des Princes and the applause of his takeover on Saturday, as well as the announcement at the start of the match which read “From Bondy to Paris, Kylian Your Story, Is Written Here.”
