Cristiano Ronaldo still goalless in 2022 as Atletico Madrid tie inches closer

Cristiano-Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is very good at scoring goals, and has done so every year since 2002, but the Portuguese striker is yet to break his duck in 2022

He is currently frustrated with Manchester United, as Ronaldo has yet to score or benefit from his last six games, his last goal coming on December 30 against Burnley.

Following a tough 1-1 draw with Southampton, Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick had his say in the Ronaldo goal drought.

“It’s not just Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Rangnick.

“That we have to score more goals, obviously.

“We have created enough chances in the last few games, but we haven’t scored enough goals.

“This is not just Cristiano’s story. It is the story of other players, especially attacking players. We are not scoring enough goals.”

This is Ronaldo’s worst goal in 13 years, since he failed to score in seven games between December 2008 and January 2009.

During his time at Real Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo did not play more than four games without scoring.

With a trip to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals on February 23, United could make it through with their head man to get his shooting boots.

Despite this dry season, Ronaldo is still the leading scorer at Old Trafford with 14 goals in 27 games, six of which have been scored in five Champions League games.
