Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is under sudden pressure after this week’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, with President Florentino Perez reportedly ‘angry’ about the way they played.
Ancelotti returned to the Bernabeu from the old club Everton last summer for the second time, being sacked by Perez for the first time a year after releasing Decima from a club that had been a mistake in the Champions League.
His Real team is currently four points adrift of the La Liga title, but limited play in Europe this week has seen PSG win late and raise eyebrows.
The Independent reported that Perez and other senior team officials were ‘shocked’ against Los Blancos for failing to register the one shot they had targeted, and were ‘surprised’ that few had touched the two midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos had with the ball.
With Perez left ‘generally angry’ over what has been seen at the club as one of their ‘worst continents of the continent over the years’, Ancelotti’s career could be on the second leg next month.
The proposal says Perez is impressed with PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino, who has been linked with Real for the past five years. But the Argentine is still being watched by Manchester United, who are always looking for the perfect coach.
According to a report in Barcelona’s SPORT book, long-wanted Real midfielder Kylian Mbappe has been suspended from the summer due to the disappointing level he saw in them, and also said Ancelotti could be ‘sacked’ from the club. Perez club – although they think from summer is possible.
