While the January transfer window may be closed on Monday, Ousmane Dembele’s series continues to struggle.

With his current contract expiring in six months, the 24-year-old has refused to sign a new contract with Barcelona. The Catalan bulls, as a result, wanted to remove him from the transfer window in January.

There has been interesting from PSG, and Chelsea and Tottenham have also been linked with a move away from the defender. However, the move was unsuccessful and he ended up staying at Camp Nou.

However, that could change as Barça now consider increasingly terminating Dembele’s contract. According to Diario AS, the club is frustrated with the whole situation as the Frenchman continues to reject the renewal while denying the offers he had through the January window.

As a result, Joan Laporta & co. they are now working hard to put an end to this ongoing catastrophe. Barcelona executives are considering two options at the moment; giving Dembele a letter of independence in which the unit will either agree or terminate his contract directly.

The report added that the first option was chosen as it would make Dembele a free agent, which would free up space for the club’s salary, although they would have to continue to pay until he got the club.

However, as there is little indication in the players’ camp that they may agree to consider this move, termination of the contract is a big possibility.

The third option was to keep Dembele in the club and fire him from the first team. But that is not on the table as Xavi Hernandez is reluctant to send him to the stadiums if he stays in Barça. In that case, the manager may choose to use him in the squad.

However, the management has no intention of re-seeing the denied player wearing the team shirt. Therefore, it remains to be seen how this will happen in the coming days.
