Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has revealed he would like to return to Camp Nou to some extent. The Spanish midfielder signed a “lifetime contract” with Barca before leaving the club months ago in 2018, joining Japanese club Vissel Kobe.
With former midfielder Xavi returning as head coach, Iniesta has also opened the door for his return to Catalonia – although he has given much thought to the team’s role after retirement.
“I would like to return to Barcelona. I would like to help the center. There is a lot of flexibility and it is difficult to know what will happen in the future, ”Iniesta told reporter Gerard Romero.
“Barca is my home and I can’t be better than that. Today, I like to think more about play. That is what fascinates me most today. Time is running out for me as they say, but I don’t know where I see myself when I retire.
“Many times it comes to my mind that I would like to win a coaching title or prepare to become a sports director. I would love to be connected with football, yes.
“I want the same thing that all Barcelona fans want: for the team to do well, come back and win points. And to achieve anything that can happen. It all takes time. Everything.”
