Senegal booked their place in the Afcon 2021 semi-finals beating Equatorial Guinea 3-1. It was a slow start to the game with no team scoring in the first 20 minutes.
But it was Senegal who opened the scoring as Fara Diedhiou finished well near Sadio Mané’s fine performance.
In the second half, Equatorial Guinea got a good chance to equalize after Kalidou Koulibaly was sentenced for possession of the ball inside the area.
But after the VAR test, the referee somehow changed his mind, much to the surprise of the Equatorial Guinea players.
That seemed encouraging to them though and soon after they scored an equalizer with Jannick Buyla’s poke.
They did not equal for long though as Senegal scored for the second time as Cheikhou Kouyaté hit a bad defensive header and put it at home.
Aliou Cissé’s team then got a third late when Ismaila Sarr grabbed the end of the cross and put in the middle.
