Among the biggest players in any transfer window are Manchester City, who are financially strong and very attractive because of Pep Guardiola, and that will be no different from their search for a new striker.
After Ferran Torres’ departure from Barcelona, a few months after the club’s icon Sergio Aguero moved to the same venue, there could be a new attack.
However, Manchester City does not plan to move forward in January and will wait until the summer, when they will pursue their goals: Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
“The city plans to hold meetings with Haaland representatives in the coming weeks and months, however, whether the 21-year-old Norwegian player chooses to go to the Etihad Stadium is a different matter,” wrote David Ornstein to Athletic.
“There is a feeling that Real Madrid are putting City at great risk, but if the Spaniards manage to get Kylian Mbappe, that could prevent Haaland from following suit.
“Many sources are wasting Barcelona’s ability to pose a major challenge and although Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are potential locations, City could hope to offer a more attractive proposal.
“Manchester United are thought to be keeping an interest in Haaland, but there is no doubt that the attraction goes hand in hand.”
The best option in the event of a Haaland move failing to happen would be Manchester City renewing their interest in England captain Harry Kane.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker’s move did not materialize due to Spurs’ high demands last summer, and as he will be celebrating his 29th birthday on July, it may not be a viable option.
Instead, City are monitoring Real Sociedad striker Alex Isak and Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who was linked with Atletico Madrid last summer.
