Lionel Messi is unlikely to be called up to the Argentina national team for the World Cup qualifiers 2022.
Lionel Messi is expected to miss the January and February World Cup qualifiers 2022. As we reported last week, coach Lionel Scaloni is determined to make a number of changes to the team in the qualifiers. One of them leaves Messi in the group.
It is reported that Scaloni and his staff have spoken to Messi about the possibility of not calling him up for the games against Chile and Colombia. Messi’s response is said to give him a few days to decide. According to reports from France, Messi’s response was to rest and stay at PSG during those games.
The Argentine coach is expected to announce his list of players by the end of this week and we have a few confirmed names. Verona has already posted on Twitter that Gio Simeone has been called up to the party and Udinese has tweeted that Nahuel Molina and Nehuen Perez have also been called up.
