Lionel Messi could be rested in Argentina national team during the World Cup qualifiers 2022 this month.

Lionel Messi could not be included in the Argentina squad in January. The Copa America champions are already ready to compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and as we have previously reported, coach Lionel Scaloni is expected to make some changes when called up next. Thanks to COVID, Lionel Scloni is expected not to call up more European players, so as not to cause problems with clubs.

The Argentine national team coaching staff spoke to Lionel Messi about the January and February matches. According to TyC Sports, Cloni’s idea is to rest Messi and not call him to the games. According to the report, Messi asked for a few days before making a decision. The 34-year-old has started all 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Argentina, with the exception of the match against Uruguay in November.

Argentina play Chile in the desert on January 27 before playing February 1 at home against Colombia at home. Scaloni is expected to call Manuel Lanzini and Gio Simeone to the Argentina squad.
