Karim Benzema was France’s best footballer in 2021. The No.9 celebrated Real Madrid’s 302nd goal against Barcelona on Wednesday night in the Supercopa de Espana semi-final, continuing the good form he had enjoyed with his team.
That form remained unchanged for the rest of 2021 and landed him back in the French Euro 2020 squad.
His form has been so impressive that French Football has named him the best French footballer of 2021, ahead of Kylian Mbappé. The latter received and celebrated Benzema winning the award, even more so than he and N’Golo Kante.
“I have become the No.9 I always wanted to be,” Benzema said in an interview with France Football.
With 23 goals in 26 games so far this season, as well as nine assistants, Benzema shows no signs of slowing down with Los Blancos, and could continue to gain more in 2022.
