The second heavyweight match of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations saw Nigeria take the lead in Group D with a 1-0 win over Mohamed Salah and Egypt. The match played at the Stade Roumdé Adjia in Cameroon, Garoua, was their opening Group D match of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After Monday’s match between Morocco and Ghana where the Atlas Lions came out on top with a 1-0 victory, we once again faced another tournament that was expected to win the title, with the result showing that one team is better prepared to push the title than the other.

Kelechi Iheanacho made headlines ahead of his Premier League rival Mohamed Salah after the Nigerian striker expelled his country from a 1-0 win over Egypt on Tuesday night.

Coming out of the break the Super Eagles continued to have better chances in front of goal and the quiet Egyptian team was limited to just two shots directing the entire game.

Mohamed Salah had a better chance of scoring but goalkeeper Maduka Okoye did the crucial thing to save the game towards the end as he saw Nigeria grab all three points. while Egypt will feel added pressure in its other group stage matches against Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.
