Liverpool have confirmed the three Covid-19 players in preparation for Sunday’s meeting with Chelsea are Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, and Joel Matip.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is already watching at home after returning with existing tests and complaining of soft symptoms.
Three positive cases within the club were confirmed earlier this week, but now Liverpool have confirmed who they are.
Alisson, Firmino, and Matip will all miss Sunday’s crucial clash against Chelsea, but the entire Klopp team and Pep Lijnders’ assistant have been tested and no other positive ones have been recorded.
In the absence of Alisson, it is Caoimhin Kelleher who scores a goal, while Iraima Konate teammates Virgil van Dijk replaces Matip at the back.
The third and final change from Leicester’s 1-0 defeat comes in the middle of the pitch, where James Milner starts and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain falls off the bench.
It’s Liverpool’s youth bench. Under-23 goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga joins veteran Adrian in the dugout, with Owen Beck, Neco Williams, and Tyler Morton forming numbers alongside Naby Keita, Joe Gomez, and Curtis Jones.
None of Andy Robertson, a left-back who played in the last three-match suspension against Leicester but advanced to the game following the postponement of the December meeting with Leeds United.
Midfielder Thiago Alcantara remains sidelined due to Covid-19, while Divock Origi is suffering from a hamstring strain. They are joined by stands by Nat Phillips (fractured jaw) and Harvey Elliott (ankle).
