Group D came to a close on Wednesday evening as Egypt took on Sudan while Guinea-Bissau faced leaders Nigeria.

Egypt knew that the point here would be enough to advance to the group stage and get out of the blocks looking for that first goal.

Mohamed Salah looked dangerous on the right but could not open the defense for Sudan.

But it was the defender who scored the first goal when Mohamed Abdelmoneim hit the corner after 35 minutes.

After the break, the North African players continued to push for a second goal that would have kept them out of action but a combination of good defense and elimination of the suspect prevented that from happening.
