Xavi does not want Barcelona to make a deal with Paul Pogba after club president Joan Laporta met with senior agent Mino Raiola earlier this week.

Paul Pogba’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season and he has been open about his options for the future, and the Frenchman will be able to negotiate terms with clubs outside of England from 1 January 2022.

According to the sport, his agent Raiola met with Barcelona president Laporta a few days ago, initially to discuss a possible deal to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

During their meeting, Raiola nominated three of his clients, all of whom lost their contracts in the summer, for Barça – Xavi Simons of PSG, Noussair Mazraoui of Ajax, and Pogba.

Laporta is keen to sign Haaland despite Barcelona’s financial woes, and the deals of Simons and Mazraoui ‘do not look too complicated ‘and are considered possible. But coach Xavi does not want Pogba to be part of his team.

Xavi is concerned about Pogba’s commitment and body style against aspiring tech players within his arena.

Barcelona have a lot of midfielders in their books right now, and it is still one of the only places on the pitch where they have depth because of their recent injury problem. Simons’ possible return to PSG will add another option to that position.

Dani Alves, who also signed for the club last month and could not be signed to play in early January, has also been used in the abdomen from time to time towards the end of his career.
