Barcelona boss Xavi was full of praise for 17-year-old midfielder Gavi after a 3-2 victory over Elche on Saturday at Camp Nou in La Liga.
Gavi was an outstanding athlete and scored his first goal for the team in a single effort to put Barca at the top two after Ferran Jutgla made it 1-0.
The teenager then added the late Nico Gonzalez to the performance which impressed his supervisor.
“Amazingly his age, he is 17 years old and looks at how he competes. Today he made a difference with the goal and the assistant, ”he said.
“Above all his work is amazing. We are happy to have him and I do not want to compare him with anyone. There is no need for him. ”
Xavi also talked about the importance of victory as Barca finally came back after La Liga’s disappointing results against Osasuna and Real Betis.
“We have done very well for some things. But with the goal they came back from the game 2-2, ”he said.
“These are three great points and I hope it will be a change. “Elche and I have survived because of our mistakes.”
The victory should give Xavi’s team strength ahead of their 2021 final match at Sevilla.
