Barcelona will have to cope without midfielders Sergio Busquets and Gavi for their first La Liga match of 2022 after the 2 players both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season against Sevilla.
Busquets went on to book late Lucas Ocampos after just 10 minutes and will now get an extended Christmas break due to a one-game ban.
It will be a bit of a break for the Busquets who are the only Barcelona player to have started every game this season for the Catalan giants.
He will be joined by Gavi who was booked late for fouling Fernando and will have a good rest during the holidays.
Xavi has many options with Frankie de Jong, Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, and Riqui Puig available, while Pedri will also be back in the new year.
Barca’s first 2022 match is in Real Mallorca on January 2. The Xavi boys will then face the third round of the Copa del Rey against Linares Deportivo three days later.
