Barcelona director Matthew Alemany has given an update on Ousmane Dembele’s future and hopes the matter can be resolved before the end of the year.
Dembele has lost his summer contract and is able to free agent, but Barca wants to tie the Frenchman to a new long-term contract.
According to Sport, There have been reports that Dembele wants to stay but his agent is unhappy with Barca’s recent offer but Alemany seems confident the deal can be reached.
“We have been working on it for a long time, we always have a desire to reach an agreement because his idea is to stay and it gives us a lot of confidence,” he said.
“We are now in a critical time. We hope everything goes well before the end of this year. ”
Xavi also talked about Dembele before defeating Elche and explained that he had met with her to discuss earlier in the week.
“I am hopeful. He still knows the job of the sport and how important it is, ”he said. “She is happy here. Now it depends on the club and its agent. ”
Barcelona will not want the saga to continue, especially as Dembele will be able to speak to other clubs from January, but it is not yet clear whether he will continue his career at Camp Nou.
