World Cup qualifying 2022 draw: Portugal & Italy + Wales & Scotland could meet in play-off finals

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal face off in the 2022 World Cup after being drawn on the same ‘path’ as Euro 2020 champions Italy. These international soccer giants have failed to win their qualifying teams and are now facing the daunting task of winning the play-off campaign – something Italy failed to do in 2017.

Portugal and the Azzurri were drawn on the ‘C’ route, where they would face Turkey in the semi-finals and Italy would face North Macedonia.

The winner of those two matches will advance to the finals, a match in which the winner will book a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

So that means at least one of the two European champions will not reach the biggest stage in all the games …
