Xavi Hernandez has returned to Barcelona as a coach and wants to reorganize his team in an effort to turn the club’s fortunes on the pitch. The January transfer window will be busy at Azulgrana and Xavi is reportedly looking to invade Premier League side, Chelsea.
The Barcelona legend is looking to secure some loan deals and has identified three potential Chelsea players: Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
According to Diario Sport, Barcelona holds the reins of the trio, all of whom are struggling for minutes under current manager Thomas Tuchel and are regarded as the best strikers in Xavi’s team.
Pulisic may be determined to leave as he has been given a huge drop in his playing time this season, as well as the opportunity to reunite with United States teammate Sergino Dest.
Ziyech has previously been linked with the Catalan club, and the opportunity to return to the level he showed at Ajax could be exciting.
Although Hudson-Odoi is very young and used to play for the Blues, he has not been seen in England since 2019 and will want to prove himself before next year’s World Cup.
Borrowings could be suitable for both teams here as Barcelona look to strengthen their options going forward, and Chelsea sees the players at the edge of their team gaining valuable information.
Xavi has already brought back his former team-mate Dani Alves at the Camp Nou and has been linked with Barcelona defender and current Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
We can see a very different Barcelona team in the second half of the season if Xavi can do it his way.
