Patrice Evra, however, had previously said he would not be impressed if Lionel Messi won the title for the 7th time in his career.
“In my opinion, this Ballon d’Or belongs to N’Golo Kante or Jorginho … I’m sick of giving it to Lionel Messi,” Evra told ESPN last month.
“What did he win last year? All right, Copa America [and Argentina]. With Barcelona, what did you do?”
This Sunday, however, Patrice Evra took to social media to reveal that he believed Lionel Messi had won this year’s award.
“Congratulations to Lionel Messi on winning another Ballon d’Or award,” the Frenchman wrote on his Instagram account, perhaps a small tongue on his cheek.
