Barca formed a team designed to fit Xavi. That means thinking long-term not only on signing but also on new contracts. Newcomers to the offices will be Gavi and Araujo.

In the case of Araujo, Barcelona will need to take immediate action. And the good work of a midfielder means he is on the list of some England clubs, reports ‘Mundo Deportivo’.

Chelsea could be a good option for Uruguayan. The Blues could lose Rudiger, Christensen, and Azpilicueta. The three saw their contract expire in the summer and, meanwhile, the club has not yet completed the renewal of the contract of any of them. So they head to Stamford Bridge to find an emergency defender.

Araujo’s physical features make him a perfect defender of English football. He has the strength, speed, and determination and that could see him go to the Premier League if Barca do not stop him.

Araujo’s contract lasts at Barca until June 2023. There is no rush in that sense, but the club is working to keep him in the club beyond that day.

For Barca, the Catalan paper says he wants to stay at Camp Nou. Those requests from England are currently on the table, but the Uruguay international is reportedly unwilling to leave if Barcelona continues to see him as a key player in the future.
