Marcelo Gallardo has reportedly been approached by Barcelona about replacing Ronald Koeman as head coach.
The Argentine club River Plate manager is considered one of the most successful Dutchman options, along with Andrea Pirlo, Roberto Martinez, and Xavi Hernandez.
According to RAC1, however, Marcelo Gallardo has already rejected Barcelona’s request as he is unwilling to terminate his contract with the Argentine club ahead of time.
Gallardo’s contract with River is valid until December 31, 2021, and the 45-year-old will consider moving to Barcelona in January.
Meanwhile, Xavi also has a contract with Al Sadd but could terminate his Current contract if Barcelona comes knocking.
The former Barcelona player has many fans in the dressing room, but not many on the club board.
Roberto Martinez, on the other hand, will rule Belgium for the next world holiday. This means he will not be able to join Barcelona until the end of the season.
Finally, Pirlo is currently available after Juventus decided to part ways with the Italian coach, which could lead to him finishing fourth in Serie A last season after nine consecutive Scudetto victories.
