Mauricio Pochettino is excited about Lionel Messi as the summer signing scored his first goal for Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, closing in on the second in PSG’s 2-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

The Argentine duo made headlines after the coach replaced Leo Messi playing for Lyon last week, but it emerged that the player was injured and had progressed to that point.

Now, Mauricio Pochettino is just happy with his man, much to his delight when the ball bounced off Manchester City’s net on Tuesday.

“It’s true that I don’t like to enjoy goals, but I’ve celebrated this,” Pochettino explained after the game.

“I used to see Leo pretending to be an opposition player, but now he’s by my side and that’s special. That’s something we have to celebrate.

“I am very happy with this victory tonight.”
