Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he did not expect Paris Saint-Germain to complete the signing of Leo Messi this summer.

Leo Messi was informed by Barcelona that they would not be able to keep him, even if he had a 50% pay cut, which opened the way for him to go to Parc des Princes.

“I may not be the most qualified person to describe Leo Messi,” Pochettino told efa.com.

“Many people have a broad vocabulary to describe him closely with the truth that Leo deserves.

“He will always be regarded as the best man in the world. Since his arrival, he has adapted very quickly and has trained very well, trying to get his highest level Performance as fast as possible to compete as best he can.

“I didn’t think it was possible that Leo Messi could sign for PSG, and if the opportunity arises and everything goes very fast, you can’t process it immediately.

“But there is a connection: we are both Argentines, we both support the Newells [Old Boys], we are both from Rosario.

“I also respected him for a long time when I faced him as an opponent so that he is now training with us well. We hope that, together, we will be able to achieve what the club wants.”
