The former Dutch international coach had to deal with a number of issues during his time at the Camp Nou, including the club’s financial woes and the departure of Lionel Messi.
There was a change of leadership behind the scenes when Laporta returned to the Catalan giants Barca to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Despite the call for a new face in the area, Laporta insists Koeman fully supports next season.
Laporta said: “Ronald Koeman has all my support, respect, and all my confidence so that he can work as freely as possible.
“We’ve talked several times with Rob Jansen, his agent, so we’re talking. I told the coach he had to be strong, he wouldn’t be in a weak position to terminate the contract, so I suggested it be possible to extend the current contract.”
Barcelona have recorded two victories and a draw in 3 La Liga opening matches of the new season.
