Dutch international defender Virgil van Dijk has signed a new contract in 2025 with Liverpool. He signed a 5-and-a-half-year contract when he left Southampton for the then world record £ 75million defender but Liverpool have changed their terms and the contract will start in June 2025.
Van Dijk is expected to play start Saturday’s Premier League opener in Norwich City.
According to Liverpoolfc.com: Van Dijk told “From the first day when I joined the club, I have felt great gratitude to my fans and colleagues and staff, that I can be a very important member of Liverpool football club.
“It has been going well; unfortunately last season for me was a time to forget, study, and take with me, but I have enjoyed my time here and will continue to enjoy it for the next few years entirely for you.
“It did not take long for me to feel that way [at home], without prejudice, with the help of my colleagues, especially in the beginning, the staff and especially the fans, how they welcomed me from the start.
“Where I am today, the way I feel today same, as a very good player, important to the team and the team. That’s just a good feeling and why I feel at home here.”
