The Portugal international Ruben Dias signed a 6-year contract with Man City on his arrival from Benfica last summer, and played 50 games for Pep Guardiola’s side during the 2020-21 season.

The Portugal defender was named Premier League Player of the Season last season, and won the FWA Footballer of the Year award for his outstanding performance.

According to The Sun, Manchester City are set to extend their £ 90,000-a-week contract signed by the 24-year-old last year and are currently in talks with him over a pay rise.

The report also states that the Citizens want the proposed new contract offer to take effect until June 2027, when the full-back is seen as an important part of the team’s future.

Ruben Dias, who represented his country at the European Championship in the summer, is likely to come close to a £ 250,000-a-week deal that John Stones signed earlier this month.

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from their defeat over the weekend opening Tottenham Hotspur as they continue their Premier League season at home against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
