Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is facing a challenge from Barcelona with Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.
With the signing of Boateng in charge of Manchester United, Mourinho intends to try again for the German international this summer.
Without a contract in June, Bayern Munich have announced that the 32-year-old will not be offered new terms but will be allowed to leave at the end of the season.
Mourinho is interested but will face competition with Barcelona, where new President Joan Laporta is heavily involved in the Bosman market due to the financial crisis he inherited.
Bayern Munich chief executive Hasan Salihamidzic announced this week: “It was a joint decision of the club’s management and coach.”
